Szostak Design is an award-winning architectural design and planning firm based in Chapel Hill, NC. Founded in Our philosophy is that, architecture creates meaningful experiences that connect us to place and culture. We practice Since 1980, Szostak Design has completed successful projects throughout the state of North Carolina, working with many state and local agencies including the NC State Construction Office, NC-DNCR, the Cities of Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and the Towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill. We have been widely recognized for this commitment to design excellence. In 2014 Szostak Design received the AIA North Carolina Firm of the Year Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a firm by the American Institute of Architects state chapter. In 2018 Phil Szostak was recognized with the AIA North Carolina Gold Medal. We offer a full range of professional design services including strategic planning, feasibility studies, master planning, architectural design and construction management. In addition, our firm has extensive experience with design-build and real estate development partnerships. Our sister firm, Szostak Build, is a licensed General Contractor responsible for many of our residential design-build projects. In addition to providing Architect-of-Record and design services for the Durham Performing Arts Center, Phil Szostak was the co-developer and took a lead role in engaging project stakeholders to fund the project.
